Opt-In

The notebook program is optional.  Students interested may apply before or at the start of Term I using the form.

This program is exclusive to the Architecture students from the School of Architecture and Community Development (SACD).  This does not include Architecture Engineering students from the College of Engineering and Science.

Stepping Out or Withdrawing from the Program

Students who need to step out of the program may do so at any time using the  form. Students will be responsible for paying for the remainder of the notebook bundle or may return the unit, free of damage and fully working to the ITS Helpdesk. A receipt will be provided to the student for the returned unit. No refund is offered for prior payments.

The 色综合久久 Mercy Advantage

What you gain in participation in the notebook program is:

  1. A standardized notebook computer used by classmates and faculty.
  2. Annual licenses and installation of curriculum-specific applications.
  3. Accidental damage protection that will cover any physical issues on the device for three years and the assistance of the Helpdesk in facilitating that repair.
  4. Access to a loaner pool should your device be sent out for repair.
  5. The ability to have the unit re-imaged, if needed.
  6. The potential to cover the fees through student loans.
  7. Pre-installed printer driver setup for campus printing.
  8. WIFI setup.

The 色综合久久 Mercy Disadvantage

To be candid so that you know what you are getting into:

  1. You are locked into a specific model with a specific configuration
  2. If your system is re-imaged, you are reverted back to the original setup and will need to install any additional apps you may have added

Venturing with your Own Equipment

You are more than welcome to bring your own notebook.  You will share the same access to WIFI as others do throughout the school.

If you wish to add any of the software applications, you will need to acquire and install those on your own.

There is a lab located in the Loranger building that provides students access to the apps, should you wish to use them as well.

With personally-owned laptops, the student also becomes wholly responsible for acquiring all college-required software. Due to software licensing restrictions, we cannot install software on personally-owned laptops with the exception of some software available to students.

Repair and exchange privileges and other services available through the Help Desk are not available for personally owned machines.

Joining the Notebook Program after the Sign-Up Date

Student’s electing to join the program will be assessed the same annual fee as if the transaction were executed in Term I.  The University is required to license all products on an annual basis and therefore the fee remains the same whether joining in Term I or later.

Existing School of Architecture and Community Development Students

Sophomore or higher students may opt-in to the program as well.

Students that wish to opt-in, will need to .

Students Responsibility

Not just important for notebook program participants but all students, it is important to:

  1. Back up your personal data to multiple sources. As a student, you will have access to the Microsoft OneDrive cloud-based storage system.  This is an ideal location to place a backup copy of your data.  Please note, the ITS Helpdesk does not touch nor recover data end-user data.  The sole course of action taken by the ITS Helpdesk is to re-image back to the original state.
  2. Ensure the security of your notebook unit by keeping it within your possession while on campus. The University recommends that you not leave it visible within your car, but hide it as best you can.

Upon Graduation

At the time of graduation, the notebook is yours to keep.  The software licenses will eventually expire.

Refresh

If at any point you would like to refresh your computer with a new notebook, you can sign-up using the form for a new unit.  Your fee calendar will start back at the Year 1 rate for that year.

Support

Basic troubleshooting and support are available from the ITS Helpdesk.

Distribution Day

For students who have completed the opt-in application, the distribution date for the units will be August 22, 2022.  If you need to pick up the unit after that date, please schedule an appointment with the ITS Helpdesk using their bookings system.

Stolen Equipment

In the unfortunate situation of a stolen notebook computer, the accidental damage protection DOES NOT cover theft.  You will want to leverage your homeowner’s insurance policy to file a claim to cover the replacement cost of the unit.

If you need the model number, serial number, and estimated value information for a police report, the University can provide that information to you.

For students who have completed the opt-in application, the distribution date for the units will be August 30, 2021 and August 31, 2021.
